Turn-key Cooling Projects on growth

Gobal Cool Consults in Pietarsaari plans and offer turn-key cooling solutions. Though the company is bearly a year old, turnover already sides on a impressive 1 million euro. The demand for competent personel is increasing all the time.

We are three people working here in Pietarsaari and we also have one employee in Baku, Azerbaijan who supervise a construnction of a power plant in that area, says Sune Bergström, CEO of Global Cool Consults

The company produces handmade cool and ventilationsolutions for customers all over the world. Whatever it is airconditioning for example powerplants or cooling of electricitypanels, GCC can offer the complete solution. Electrical appliances generates alot of heat and areas with cables need cooling. Every project is unique.

The humidity in warm countries means that nothing can work with "standard" solutions. Sune mentions for example Brazil and Sudan. Both countries have a hot climate, but the humidity varies alot. In Brazil the humidity is at a level of about 95 percent while it´s almost desertdry in Sudan. There are different demands in how you get rid of excess condense that occure at cooling.

Wärtsilä Powerplant is the largest seperate customer. At the present GCC are active in Jordania, Middle East. This project is a power plant next to a cement factory that is being built.

- We have worked with Global Cool Consults on a numerous of previous occasions, says Kishore K. Agarwal from India who is working with a power plant project for Wärtsilä.

Wärtsilä is usually the mainentrepreneur for the projects in witch Global Cool Consults take part of. The idea is to widen the customerbase, although in some projects GCC have handled everything from beginning to end.

- It is a challenge to find reliable entrepreneurs in different ares who can perform installationwork on site, states Bergström.

The company was founded in september 2007 by Sune Bergström. Mattias Bergström, technical manager, is along with Olli Mäkipelto the other owners of the company. All three partners have long experience in the cooling business.

- I often say we have over 50 years of experience together, says Bergström.

Only this year Bergström has clocked up a total of about 15 weeks abroad.
In this job you need an understanding of different cultures, otherwise you will not succeed for long, Bergström continues.

In Jordania 90 percent of the material used originates from Finland. - The country didn't have much of an industry of their own so the best solution was to bring the material from Finland to the Middle East, says Agarwal.

- The project has begun now in september and in january 2010 everything will be done, states Agarwal.

With the whole world as their workarea there are alot that has to click in to place.

- Only such a thing as the standards for electricity varies from place to place poses a challenge to find suitable machines, says Bergström

The things GCC handles form Pietarsaari is planning, construction and coordination, and sometimes it is alot to think about.

Today the company purchases some drawing and construcionserivces on commission.

We plan to grow organically, but a corporate purchase is not excluded totally from our plans, declares Bergström.

He averages that the company within one year will have about 5-10 employees. This autumn GCC will have to employ more people. In 2011 Bergström believe that the company will have grown and have a anual turnover of about 5 million euros and 30 employees.

-There can of course, be more than that.

Although there are uncertain times for the economy, GCC sees major potential within the cooling businees.

- There are always contruction going on in the world. There is a major potential in Russia and Africa, says Bergström
